At BirdLife Australia we are dedicated to achieving outstanding conservation results for our native birds and their habitats. With our specialised knowledge and the commitment of an Australia-wide network of members, volunteers and supporters, we are creating a bright future for Australia’s birds. Look out for our new website from February 2012 at birdlife.org.au

Capture A Raptor - with your camera

The extensive BOCA slide collection is an indicator that photography of birds has long been a popular pass time. The advent of digital photography has provided people with even more incentive to snap away - without wasting any film!

During the month of October through to 9 November BOCA are asking you to photograph as many raptors as you can, choose the best two images and email them to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or send prints, for scanning, to Bird Observation & Conservation Australia PO Box 185 Nunawading Victoria Australia 3131

BOCA will then display your images in the Revealing Raptors gallery.

Things to consider when you “Capture your Raptor”:

  • The image needs to be identifiable—no black dots in the distance
  • Follow BOCA guidelines for Ethical Birding and Photography
  • Email Jpeg files no larger than 1MB
  • Indicate the name of the raptor, where the photograph was taken, date the photograph was taken, your name and any conditions you would like to make on future use by BOCA
