Welcome to BirdLife Australia!

As of 1 January 2012, BOCA has merged with Birds Australia to become BirdLife Australia. The new BirdLife Australia website will go live in early February, and until then the current BOCA site will continue to be available.

At BirdLife Australia we are dedicated to achieving outstanding conservation results for our native birds and their habitats. With our specialised knowledge and the commitment of an Australia-wide network of members, volunteers and supporters, we are creating a bright future for Australia’s birds. Look out for our new website from February 2012 at birdlife.org.au

Activities of type Field Trip

Many of our branches and affiliates operate an extensive program of outings, meetings, courses/workshops, camps and tours in which you are welcome to participate.

Non-members are welcome but we ask that you consider joining the club if you intend to go on more than three activities.

Though BOCA has no formal health requirements for participants in the Club's outdoor activities, it is expected that people will know their own physical limitations and not attempt to participate beyond these.

All outings require that participants have appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather conditions likely to be met; carry water and suncream/bug spray as necessary.

You can always seek further information from the outing organiser by checking the calendar in the current edition of The Bird Observer or by contacting BOCA in Melbourne.
Remember all outdoor activities are automatically cancelled on days of total fire ban.

Many activities and meetings listed are free and no booking is required unless specifically stated below. However courses/workshops, study meetings, camps & tours usually incur a cost and require bookings. Most bookings are made through BOCA headquarters in Melbourne.

The Activities Database has been redeveloped and may be accessed lower down this page. The calendar allows for you to search for activities by location, date, branch or state, and to print out your own personalised calendar. You may also (if you are logged in and we have your email address) register your interest in an activity and we will then attempt to email you a reminder a day or two before hand and will also tell you of any changes to the activity.

Activities Calendar

You may use the "Filter" settings at the top of the list to control what information is displayed - e.g. only activities in a given state after a certain date. Clicking on a column heading will cause the table to be sorted on that column. Clicking on the date of an activity will bring up a screen that shows the full details for the activity, and clicking on other entries will show all the events related to that particular value - e.g. all the events at a specific place.
